Meaningful change happens when our community comes together with open hearts, honest understanding, and a shared commitment to hope. Whether you give your time, your resources, or your voice, you play a vital role in creating a stronger and more connected Black Hills. Homelessness affects individuals and families throughout Rapid City and the surrounding areas every day. Behind each statistic is a person — a neighbor, a coworker, a relative, a classmate — whose story deserves to be heard.
Understanding homelessness and housing instability is more than learning about statistics — it’s about uncovering the real stories, challenges, and systems that affect our neighbors. Education helps break down stereotypes, promote empathy, and inspire action that truly makes a difference.

Your time and compassion make a powerful difference. Volunteers are essential in building community connections and meeting immediate needs. Housing Stability Partners of the Black Hills welcomes volunteers from all walks of life!
If you’re new to this work, consider taking part in one of our We Connect sessions first.
Learning about available services and the realities of homelessness can help you connect more meaningfully and support our efforts with compassion and confidence.
We encourage you to donate directly to the organization you feel most connected with, or, click the RCGives button below. Before the Point in Time Count each year we do accept hygiene kits, personal care supplies and warm hats, scarves, gloves and coats to distribute on that one day.
You can drop off donations at 111 New York Street, Rapid City, SD 57701 from November 1 to January 15 each year between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm or contact us to arrange a time that works for you.
Our programs rely on grants, and most grants can only be used for specific purposes — leaving gaps in areas that matter deeply to the people we serve.
Monetary donations help fill those gaps. They give us the freedom to respond to urgent needs, support individuals in unique situations, and extend services beyond what limited funding allows.
Your donations provide hope and flexibility when it’s needed most. They can help ensure that our neighbors have access to essentials — food, warmth, safety, and dignity. Every dollar supports programs, outreach, and emergency resources for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
